1/2 cup water
1/2 cup white vinegar
Mix together and let sit on floor for 1/2 to one hour. Using water, rinse and mop up. Be careful with wax-finished floors as the vinegar will remove some of the wax. If you are fighting pet odors, however, the pet's urine has probably already damaged the finish and you'll have to re-wax anyway.
Note: Remove dirt and stains from a urethaned wood floor with a solution of 1 cup of white vinegar and 2 1/2 gallons of water. (For really stubborn stains, use 2 cups of vinegar) Badly worn wood floors require sanding and refinishing.
